The article gives a comparative study of molecular characteristics of spongiform cattle encephalopathy and spongiform amyloidal cattle encephalopathy. Except general differences typical to spongiform amyloidal cattle encephalopathy, such as change in the molecular mass of pathological prion isoform and amyloidlike fibrils formation, several new characteristics on celluar and subcellular level were discovered. These characteristics are as following: accumulation of the pathological prion (PrPSC) in olivary nucleus neurons of the medulla oblongata and change in deposition nature of PrPSC from diffuse to granular.
All these characteristics that are specific for spongiform amyloidal cattle encephalopathy simplify a procedure for differential diagnostics of the transmissible spongiform cattle encephalopathy.
